2020-09-20: Church School classes will resume on Sunday, September 27th, 2020.
Post date: September 20, 2020
Dear Church School Parents,
I hope and pray you are all well and healthy and have had a beautiful summer!
Church School classes will resume on Sunday, September 27th, 2020. Please note the following:
Please make sure you are registered for Church School. It is very important, especially this year, to be signed up so that we know who is registered and to ensure you receive updates and notifications as we are still in a period of flux. You can register your children here: https://churchschool.stnickaa.org/register
Church School classes will meet in-person following the distribution of Holy Communion. Each class will meet outside in a designated area. The class will start following the distribution of Holy Communion and will last until 12:10pm.
Children should wear masks.
Children should bring their own beach towels to sit on (we will be on the grass areas around the church).
If the weather is inclement or the ground is wet, we will not have church school that day.
We expect, pending good weather, to be able to have Church School this way until November. Come November, we will have to be prepared for something else.
Because we will meet outside, please feel free to have your daughters dressed in slacks or blue jeans. That will be appropriate for now.
Because it can still be quite sunny, and as there is no shade in the areas we will use, hats will be allowed during Church School (but not during the Liturgy, of course).
I know this has been a difficult year. I also know, from much feedback, that people do want more activities in-person. For educational purposes, in-person sessions are clearly best and quite a number of people have expressed zoom-fatigue with regard to their children (and themselves).
We have researched what the State of Michigan has required and the children should wear the masks even outdoors for the time-being.
We look forward to beginning our Church School year!
