2014-12-21: Christmas Pageant

Post date: Jan 25, 2015 9:51:31 PM

The Church School’s brand new 2014 Christmas Pageant took place on December 21, 2014, in church, following the Divine Liturgy. Based on feedback from parishioners, the Christmas Pageant was a smashing success!

This year’s pageant presented the nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a sequence of events that unfold in present time. The story was told by a TV news crew with an anchorman coordinating field reporters who in turn interviewed the eyewitnesses and protagonists of the events. There were six scenes, separated by five musical interludes. The program for the 2014 Christmas Pageant is attached.

In case you missed it or would like to see it again, the presentation of the Christmas Pageant in church was video-recorded professionally by Jeff Stokes and is available through the Church School website or directly here:

On behalf of our entire Church School we would like to congratulate everyone who contributed to the success of our Christmas Pageant and especially

    • The Church School students who stepped forward and volunteered for all the speaking roles. They were fabulous!

    • The Church School students in grades 2-12 who sang "O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Silent Night”. Great job!

    • The Church School students in grades 4-5 who chanted the troparia “Η Παρθένος σήμερον” and “Η Γέννησις Σου Χριστέ” in Greek! We received enthusiastic congratulations from many parishioners about their performance and we would like to pass them on to the students and to Ioanna Ioannou who volunteered and taught the troparia as well as to Dr. Sophia Grias who helped the students with their chanting.

  • The soloists who sang beautifully "Once in Royal David’s City” and played “Joy to the World”.

We would like to recognize Deno Prokos and Andreas Cotitsas who helped lead the project, our dedicated teachers who are the real driving force behind our Church School and those teachers and parents who managed all the costumes.

Most of all we thank Fr. Nick. The setting and format for this new Christmas Pageant was Fr. Nick’s idea and Professor Photios Ioannou and he personally wrote the script that turned the idea into a reality! Fr. Nick also took the whole production under his wing and oversaw everything from beginning to end, including writing the program.

Thank you Fr. Nick.
